PBOC will conduct overnight reverse repos on Aug. 14 and Aug. 17–19 to better meet short-term banking-system liquidity needs; operations will be fixed-rate, quantity-based tenders with daily allotments capped at 600 billion yuan.

The US dollar index, tracking the dollar against six major currencies, rose 0.02% to 99.828 at the New York FX close. EUR/USD 1.1540, down from 1.1542; GBP/USD 1.3503, down from 1.3509; USD/JPY 159.26, up from 159.24; USD/CHF 0.8112, up from 0.8101; USD/CAD 1.3920, down from 1.3942; USD/SEK 9.5244, up from 9.5016.

Refinitiv quoted a senior Iranian source saying Iran and the US are not discussing an extension of the ceasefire. The source said Iran views the ceasefire as having no effective date and therefore no need for an extension, and said the US breached the interim agreement 48 hours after it was reached and withdrew a few days later. Current discussions focus on the US rejoining the memorandum of understanding and agreeing a timeframe for the US to fulfil its commitments.
