Hong Kong stocks opened: Hang Seng Index down 0.6%, Hang Seng TECH Index down 0.29%; Tencent Holdings (00700.HK) fell 3.29% post-earnings.

The People’s Bank of China released its Q2 2026 Monetary Policy Implementation Report, saying total social financing (TSF) and broad money (M2) are broad macro‑financial aggregates that capture diverse financing channels. The report notes that, mathematically, rising bond financing can cause M2 or deposit growth to diverge from loan growth and that such divergence does not necessarily indicate weaker support for the real economy or idle funds. Compared with nominal GDP growth, TSF and M2 growth remain higher, indicating monetary and financial conditions are relatively loose.

Jan–Jul national PM2.5 concentration fell 1.8 µg/m3 YoY, a 6.2% decline; proportion of 'good' air days rose 3.9 percentage points YoY. Share of surface water monitoring sections rated Class I–III reached 86.5%, up 2.4 percentage points YoY, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment said.
