China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) said initial fuel loading has begun at Tianwan nuclear plant Unit 7, marking the first domestic fuel loading of a VVER-1200 reactor. The 1.265 GW unit has a 60-year design life, is expected to generate nearly 10 bln kWh annually and is slated for commercial operation in 2026. When all eight Tianwan units are online, site capacity will exceed 9 GW, annual output will top 70 bln kWh and CO2 emissions will be cut by about 57.4 mln tonnes per year.

Ningbo Maritime Safety Administration said on the China Maritime Safety Administration website that parts of the East China Sea will hold military exercises on Aug 13 from 07:00 to 10:00; entry into the exercise area is prohibited.
