Apple (AAPL.O) appointed Nate Gatten, former head of government affairs at American Airlines Group and a former JP Morgan government-relations staffer, as vice president for global government affairs, effective Aug. 31. Sources said Apple seeks a government-relations lead able to maintain strong channels with the Trump administration to manage tariff and policy risks. The hire follows increased CEO Tim Cook engagement with the White House and is part of recent senior changes: Cook plans to step down as CEO on Sept. 1, to be succeeded by hardware chief John Ternus, while Cook will remain executive chairman.

Hong Kong-listed power equipment sector strengthened; Goldwind (02208.HK) rose over 3%, Weichai Power (02338.HK) nearly 2%, while 02402.HK and 03393.HK also advanced.
