The Export-Import Bank of China said it extended nearly 500 billion yuan of new manufacturing loans in Jan–Jul, increasing resource tilt to support high-quality manufacturing and build a modern industrial system led by advanced manufacturing. Loans to advanced manufacturing totaled about 200 billion yuan, roughly 40% of the total; remaining new lending focused on traditional industry upgrades, emerging industries and early-stage investment in future industries.

BHP said underlying profit for the year to June rose 30% to $13.2bn, beating analysts, as higher commodity prices—notably record-high copper—lifted earnings. Copper revenue exceeded iron ore revenue for the first time. The group declared a final dividend of $0.99 per share, implying a 72% payout ratio. BHP projects global copper demand will rise from about 34 mln tonnes today to 50 mln t by 2050, but said copper output at its Chile operations is falling due to grade decline and ageing mines, forcing billions of dollars of sustaining capital to maintain production.

Iran central bank governor Hemmati met Iraq’s prime minister in Baghdad on Monday. Tasnim News Agency, citing the Iran‑Iraq Joint Chamber chairman, said talks covered Iran’s claims on Iraq — about $12 bln — and ways to facilitate use of Iranian foreign‑exchange funds currently held in Iraq. The reported $12 bln figure may fluctuate with trade and payments. Excluding energy, bilateral trade has risen roughly 15% YTD and could expand toward about $20 bln given current potential.
