Alexandru Hudisteanu, defense analyst and retired Romanian naval officer, says
the Iran–US confrontation is regionalizing: the war remains localized but the
wider region is effectively in a conflict state. Houthi forces have extended the
front into the Red Sea, threatening Saudi shipping, and a recent attack in the
Caspian links events to the Russia–Ukraine theater. Instability triggered by Feb
US–Israel action against Iran may further spread and spark broader turbulence;
Hudisteanu calls this a new security reality. He says US military measures have
not broken the stalemate or resolved the Strait of Hormuz issue, Washington is
in a strategic pause to reassess options, and the US blockade of Iranian ports
is its most consequential move since kinetic strikes — a tactic Iran is now
using to retaliate globally.
