Overnight US chip-sector rout and an ongoing Strait of Hormuz impasse sent Asian
equities sharply lower Wednesday. KOSPI opened about 5% down then widened to 6%,
triggering the KOSPI sidecar and pausing programmatic sell orders for five
minutes. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix fell about 7%. Japan's Nikkei 225
dropped over 3%; Tokyo Electron -4%, Kioxia -9%.
