Mainland A-shares opened lower then rallied; ChiNext rose 1.0%, the Shenzhen Composite Index added 0.4% and the Shanghai Composite neared flat/turning positive. Leading gains were in gold, shale gas, MLCC (multilayer ceramic capacitors) and crude palm oil-related stocks.

Hang Seng Indexes Company said its quarterly review as of June 30, 2026 will raise Hang Seng Index constituents from 93 to 95, adding Huahong Hongli (01347.HK) and Weichai Power (02338.HK). Hang Seng Tech Index will remain at 30 constituents, adding Tianshu Zhixin (09903.HK) and removing Tongcheng Travel (00780.HK). Constituent changes to the Hang Seng Index (HSI), Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (HSCEI), Hang Seng Tech Index and Hang Seng Composite Index will be implemented after market close on Sept. 4, 2026 and take effect on Sept. 7, 2026.
