On the 20th Iran's foreign ministry condemned a new round of US economic and trade sanctions, saying the measures violate international law and the basic principles of the UN Charter and harm Iran's sovereignty and citizens' rights. The ministry said continued use of economic sanctions and pressure will not achieve US objectives and will only deepen confrontation. It warned Iran will continue to take measures to safeguard national security and its interests and to respond to US economic and political pressure.
