Aug 21, 2026 — China foreign minister Wang Yi and Indonesia’s foreign minister co‑chaired the inaugural meeting of the China‑Indonesia comprehensive strategic dialogue in Jakarta. Both sides agreed to institutionalize the mechanism to implement leaders’ consensus and to provide a platform for deepening the two countries’ ‘five‑pillar’ cooperation and building a China‑Indonesia community with shared future and regional/global influence. China said it views Indonesia as a priority in its diplomacy and will expand all‑round cooperation to pool development momentum, coordinate against shared risks amid global instability and unilateralism, and support bilateral modernization efforts.

China’s imports and exports with other APEC economies totaled 18.03 trillion yuan in January–July, up 21% YoY. Trade growth with APEC partners outpaced China’s overall goods-trade growth in the same period, pointing to substantial potential for deeper regional economic cooperation. The Asia-Pacific now accounts for more than 60% of global GDP and nearly half of global trade.
