Samsung Electronics fell about 8% in early trade after unveiling a record USD 79 bln shareholder-return package that investors judged insufficient. The company said total returns this year will be 90–110 trln won, including a 30 trln won cash dividend to be paid in Q3. Eugene Securities analyst Sohn In-joon said the plan disappointed because it neither signaled a lift to the existing return policy nor announced a share-cancellation programme. Morgan Stanley said investors should monitor how the remaining 60–80 trln won will be allocated in January and the firm’s next-stage capital-return framework due to take effect next year.
