A candidate for Indonesia's commodity trading regulator said they will establish credible infrastructure, price-discovery mechanisms and liquid markets for the planned commodity exchange.

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Katz on the 23rd warned Hamas that if it does not immediately stop flying kites from the Gaza Strip into Israel, the Israeli military will intensify strikes on those responsible and evacuate residents in affected areas adjacent to Gaza. Israeli media reported at least four kites landed this weekend in kibbutzim near the Gaza border in southern Israel. The IDF said no suspicious items were found on the kites and they did not pose a public danger, but noted the incidents mirror earlier years’ incendiary kites and balloons that carried ignition devices and sparked fires in southern Israel.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Lin Jian said at a regular briefing on 24 that social-media attacks by some US officials against Chinese technology companies fabricate facts, distort reality and constitute naked tech bullying and unilateral coercion; China strongly opposes them. Lin said Chinese tech firms are reliable suppliers and accused the US of long-standing surveillance and cyberattacks in Latin America and the Caribbean that have undermined trust. He urged Washington to stop political manipulation, cease interfering with sovereign countries’ partner choices and take actions that support prosperity and stability in the region.
