Iran’s minister of economic affairs and finance, Madanizadeh, said on the
evening of the 24th (local time) that Tehran has long planned for U.S. sanctions
and is fully prepared for new measures, adding the world’s financial and
economic ties cannot be easily severed and the U.S. cannot "completely cut off
Iran's financial and trade links." He warned any U.S. action could prompt a
response from Iran. On the afternoon of the 24th (U.S. Eastern time), U.S.
Treasury Secretary Bessent held a press briefing unveiling sanctions targeting
Iran’s global financial network — covering digital assets, technology, gold,
aviation and shipping — aimed at severing Iran’s remaining economic lifelines.
