Amazon raised US retail prices for multiple hardware products last weekend,
including Fire TV streaming devices, Echo smart speakers, Kindle e-readers and
Eero routers. The low-end Echo Dot was repriced from $49.99 to $79.99, about a
60% increase. An Amazon spokesman said the consumer electronics industry is
facing large increases in memory and storage component costs; after absorbing
those cost rises as long as possible the company recently adjusted pricing
across its product lines and will continue to run intermittent promotions over
the next year.
