Mukhtar Haddad, editor of Iranian paper Al-Vefaq, said U.S. media reports that a
Secretary of State remarked Washington would not launch a new round of strikes
against Iran indicate a deliberate U.S. strategy to preserve the current
standoff through the U.S. midterm elections and resume broader military action
afterward. Haddad warned Iran will not passively await U.S. timing. He described
recent U.S. announcements of blockades and sanctions as not substantively new,
and said if Iran sees the U.S. fail to meet conditions or not return to the
memorandum of understanding, Tehran will take necessary measures; he added
Iran’s ongoing adjustments to military strategy reflect that stance.
