Iran's military said the eastern Hormuz Sea, the northern Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman are under its operational control. Vessels are monitored several hundred kilometers before reaching the Strait of Hormuz and may transit only after obtaining Iranian permission.
