Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee met Peking University Party secretary He
Guangcai to discuss accelerating Northern Metropolis development and
mainland–Hong Kong higher-education cooperation. Lee said the SAR government is
speeding up Northern Metropolis plans and has reserved land for a university
town to expand and upgrade higher education, research capacity and talent
training, aiming to attract international high-end talent. The two discussed
university-town development models; Peking University expressed active support
for deeper Beijing–Hong Kong university cooperation and continuation of the
Beijing–Hong Kong University Alliance to cultivate globally competitive talent.
