The Central Bank of Iran deputy governor told IRNA that August monthly inflation slowed to 3.7%, down from a May peak of 8.5%, marking three consecutive months of deceleration. The prior inflation surge reflected effects of the war, economic blockade, rising liquidity and firmer inflation expectations, with pass-through to prices occurring with a lag. Since early June the central bank has applied monetary and prudential measures to curb accelerating inflation and said it has seen results over the past three months; it will continue to control inflation while providing targeted financing to sectors and supply chains affected by shocks.
