Trump on Wednesday signed an emergency executive order, citing national
security, that prohibits US procurement or installation of certain foreign-made
large power-system equipment and related software judged to pose cybersecurity
or operational risks, including transformers. The order empowers the energy
secretary to impose restrictions on already-installed equipment where necessary
and directs the Department of Energy to issue implementing rules within 120
days; it excludes local distribution facilities. The measure could benefit US
electrical-equipment manufacturers, including SolarEdge, Enphase Energy and
Tesla (TSLA.O).
