China's Shanghai Composite closed up 1.13%, the Shenzhen Component rose 1.50%
and the ChiNext gained 1.71%. Turnover on the Shanghai-Shenzhen market expanded
to 2.13 trillion yuan, up 317.2 billion yuan from the prior session. Electronic
components and semiconductor-related stocks outperformed, with component names
such as Tianjin Prin, Jin'an Guoji, Xiehe Electronics and Jialichuang hitting
daily limit-ups and several others posting double-digit gains. The semiconductor
cluster extended gains, with multiple stocks reaching limit-up. Seed industry
stocks also surged—Wanxiang Denong lapped a third consecutive limit-up while
other seed names recorded limit-ups or strong double-digit rises. Banks
underperformed; Zheshang Bank and Changshu Bank fell more than 2%, while
Minsheng Bank, Bank of Chongqing and Huaxia Bank declined.
