Lu said Sino-Japanese relations are in serious difficulty, identifying history and Taiwan as core issues that undercut the political foundation and bilateral trust. He urged Japanese parties and politicians to adhere to the four China-Japan political documents and to handle Taiwan in accordance with the One-China principle, and reiterated Chinese positions on questions raised by the delegation. Isa said Japan regards bilateral ties as important, is concerned about the current deterioration, and seeks continued communication to help improve relations.
