Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman told TASNIM NEWS reports that the Pakistan
army chief visited Iran as a US presidential envoy are misleading and incorrect;
the trip was part of Pakistan’s ongoing mediation role. The spokesman said US
unilateral sanctions on Iran have negative effects, Pakistan does not view them
as consistent with international law, and described the economic campaign
against Iran as part of the Tehran–Washington stalemate that should be resolved
through diplomacy.
