MOFCOM Vice Minister Yan Dong told a State Council Information Office briefing on Aug. 28 that China will pursue innovation-driven policies to boost the international competitiveness of productive services. Beijing will promote exports of manufacturing-linked services — including R&D, design, testing, maintenance and supply-chain logistics — to deepen integration between services trade and high-end manufacturing. The ministry will also seek to expand life-services exports, grow inbound consumption and upgrade cultural trade. Authorities plan to accelerate construction of national service-trade innovation demonstration zones, steadily and orderly widen market access with a services-sector focus, refine the cross-border services negative list management system and break down cross-border services trade barriers, while promoting greater application of AI, cloud computing and other digital-intelligent technologies to enable services trade.
