The PBOC and the National Financial Regulatory Administration issued a notice
under Opinions on Reforming and Improving Real Estate Credit Management saying
banking financial institutions may, on market-based and rule-of-law principles,
negotiate with borrowers of existing personal housing loans who temporarily lose
income and face repayment difficulties and flexibly adjust repayment plans by
postponing repayment dates, extending loan tenors, or deferring principal
payments.
