At the Gyirong mudslide site in Shigatse, Tibet, the G216 national highway was
blocked, hampering rescue operations. On the 29th the Ministry of Emergency
Management dispatched China Aneng Engineering teams; 60 technical and skilled
personnel and 28 pieces of engineering rescue equipment, including excavators
and loaders, are conducting road-clearing to allow personnel and heavy machinery
access. Teams are performing real-time hazard monitoring. After sustained
clearance work, 2.5 km of road has been reopened; 1.8 km remains to the Gyirong
border port.
