Iranian parliament speaker Ghalibaf dismissed U.S. Treasury official Bessent’s
claim that the U.S. guided 130 million barrels of oil through the Strait of
Hormuz in the past 14 days, calling the assertion false. Ghalibaf cited a June
Moody’s survey saying the Iran war has cost U.S. taxpayers at least $132
billion, alleged trading firm Jane Street lost more than $130 million on a
single futures roll after shorting oil, and said yields are “on fire,” referring
to the recent spike in U.S. long-term Treasury yields.
