On Aug 29, EU commissioner for home affairs and migration Magnus Brunner said
Spain has requested additional support — including the European Border and Coast
Guard Agency (Frontex), Europol and the EU Agency for Asylum — to address a
migration crisis. The Commission is processing the requests and will decide
swiftly. Brunner said the immediate priority remains the rapid return of
irregular migrants in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, where thousands remain after
a large late‑July mass crossing. Spain submitted the request on Aug 28.
