China memory-chip maker CXMT filed suit against the Pentagon in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia on Aug. 28 seeking removal from a U.S. blacklist, Bloomberg reported. CXMT said its chips are for civilian and commercial use, not military applications, and called the listing erroneous; it named U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth as a defendant. The company said it is not a defense contractor and that being blacklisted since January 2025 has harmed its reputation and commercial interests, adding the suit is to protect its business. Reuters quoted the Pentagon as saying it does not comment on pending litigation under policy.
