MOFCOM and six other departments issued implementation opinions to expand and
upgrade consumer goods, calling for stronger R&D on key technologies and core
components and wider application of brain–computer integration and artificial
intelligence in senior-friendly and rehabilitation-aid products. The guidance
seeks greater promotion of quality items on the Elderly Products Promotion
Catalogue and to drive products such as exoskeleton robots, electric
wheelchairs, smart mattresses and health-monitoring, toileting/continence care,
transfer and assisted-bathing devices into elderly households. It also proposes
exploring a silver-haired product certification system and encourages trade and
distribution firms to create senior-product sales zones and place these items in
supermarkets, hotels, communities, hospitals, pharmacies and eldercare
institutions.
