The SEC and CFTC again delayed new hedge fund disclosure requirements, moving
the private fund report (Form PF) filing deadline to July 1; this is the fourth
postponement. The rule aims to give U.S. regulators visibility on private funds’
positions, leverage and risk exposures during market stress to identify
counterparty risk, margin pressure and potential systemic risk. The private fund
industry has opposed the disclosures over worries about revealing sensitive
investment strategies. In April the agencies proposed raising the Form PF
reporting threshold from $150m to $1bn, but that change has not been finalized.
