On Sept. 1 EU defense ministers met informally to discuss military support for
Ukraine, the Russia-Ukraine war and Middle East tensions. kallas said Ukraine’s
defense minister reiterated that air defense remains one of Kyiv’s most urgent
needs, but ministers made no substantive progress on the issue. kallas said the
EU is seeking additional air-defense systems and sources of interceptor missiles
and urged member states to reassess national stockpiles and consider providing
or selling Patriot interceptor missiles nearing expiry to Ukraine.
