India's LNG imports rose 40% YoY to 2.6 mln tonnes in August, the highest monthly level since October 2020, vessel-tracking data showed. The surge came despite higher spot prices as buyers sought alternatives after LNG supplies were disrupted by conflict involving Iran. Energy Aspects senior global LNG analyst Kaesher Sumit said much of the recent buying was to supply fertilizer producers receiving state aid; he added that government limits on domestic gas forced some city gas distributors into the spot market and pushed some industries to substitute away from propane, further lifting demand.

China's Shanghai and Shenzhen markets posted combined turnover of CNY2.03 trillion on Sept 1, down CNY97.63 billion from the prior session. Shanghai turnover was CNY944.31 billion (prev CNY1,014.29 billion) with volume of 574 million lots (prev 577 million); Shenzhen turnover was CNY1,089.10 billion (prev CNY1,116.74 billion) with volume of 685 million lots (prev 659 million). Zhongji Xuchuang led single-stock turnover at CNY24.67 billion, followed by Xinyisheng CNY15.06 billion, Changxin Technology CNY13.18 billion, China Jushi CNY12.83 billion and Dongshan Precision CNY11.91 billion.
