Pakistan foreign ministry spokesman Tahir Andrabi said at a regular briefing on the 2nd that Islamabad will continue to push for dialogue between the US and Iran, with particular focus on the Strait of Hormuz. He said despite recent escalation in US‑Iran tensions Pakistan prefers a diplomatic resolution and is prepared to help restore peace if both sides remain willing to engage.

By mid-session close, China’s main futures contracts were mostly lower. Palladium fell over 4%, Shanghai silver nearly 4% lower, lithium carbonate and platinum down more than 3%, Shanghai tin and Shanghai gold off over 2%, No.20 rubber and coking coal down near 2%. On the upside, SC crude oil jumped nearly 9%, ethylene glycol (EG) hit the daily limit-up, methanol and fuel oil rose over 4%, benzene and low-sulfur fuel oil (LU) gained more than 3%, styrene (EB) was nearly 3% higher and container-shipping Europe-route futures climbed over 2%.

An official in Iran's Hormozgan province said explosions heard across the province caused no casualties or damage, that some of the sounds were linked to heightened tensions in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and that the situation is currently stable.
