On Aug. 31–Sept. 1, during the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting, PBOC's Pan met individually with IMF Managing Director Georgieva, US Treasury Secretary Bessent, Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh, ECB President Lagarde, BOC Governor Macklem, Bank of Korea Governor Shin, Argentina Economy Minister Caputo and Argentina central bank governor Baoshili to exchange views on the global economic outlook and deepen bilateral financial cooperation.

Speaking at the G20 finance ministers and central bank governors meeting in Asheville, PBOC's Pan said China’s economy is broadly stable, with ongoing structural improvement and continued progress on high‑quality development; underlying long‑term growth fundamentals remain intact. He said the government will press ahead with structural upgrading as a strategic priority of the 15th Five‑Year Plan, that China does not deliberately pursue a trade surplus, and that it will expand domestic demand and maintain high‑level openness to provide market opportunities and support global economic rebalancing. The PBOC will continue reforming its monetary policy framework, refine the interest‑rate system, and maintain an appropriately accommodative policy stance to support stable growth and financial‑market stability.
