MOFCOM spokesperson Huang Ling said at a regular briefing on the 3rd that China
views recent U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent remarks and the use of multilateral
forums such as the G20 to hype alleged "economic imbalance" and "overcapacity"
as essentially a push for protectionism and a pretext to pressure and restrict
China. China firmly opposes this, saying it will disrupt the global trade order
and harm global economic development. MOFCOM urged countries to uphold
multilateralism, strengthen policy communication and coordination, expand
openness and cooperation, jointly maintain stable and unobstructed global
production and supply chains, and pursue mutually beneficial outcomes.
