GCL Group chairman Zhu Gongshan, also chair of the Global Green Energy Council, told the 2026 World Power Battery Conference that lithium battery growth dynamics have shifted: electric vehicles remain the baseline while new demand is emerging from energy storage, backup power for AI/data-center compute, embodied robots, eVTOLs, electric vessels and space applications. He said batteries are evolving into cross-sector universal energy carriers and that scenario proliferation, technology iteration, carbon-compliance benefits and AI enablement are expected to sustain a premium for effective high-end capacity.
