S&P Global’s August US services PMI rose to 56.5 from 54.6, below the
preliminary 56.8 but the strongest reading since December 2024; services
activity was robust while manufacturing kept expanding at a slower pace. The ISM
services PMI increased to 55.4 from 54.1, above the 54.1 estimate and the
highest since February 2026. S&P Global Market Intelligence economist Usamah
Bhatti said: "In August US private‑sector activity accelerated, marking a clear
pickup in the economy. Supply delays remain elevated, especially for
manufacturers, and overall price pressures are still above historical averages."
