U.S. Vice President Vance said the United States will not negotiate with Iran
until Tehran stops firing on commercial vessels. Asked how President Trump could
declare an end to hostilities while U.S. forces remain near the Strait of
Hormuz, Vance said "there are no major combat operations underway." He added the
U.S. presence is intended to keep oil and gas transiting the Strait of Hormuz
and to prevent a catastrophic global energy crisis.
