At a regular briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun responded to a
Bloomberg question about Pacific island leaders' criticism that China did not
give adequate prior notice of recent missile tests, saying Beijing has
repeatedly set out its position. He reiterated that China pursues peaceful
development, adheres to a defensive national defense policy and does not engage
in military expansion, and said China is willing to work with South Pacific
states to help maintain regional peace, stability and prosperity.
