Fitch Ratings says the market value of covered bonds backed by European commercial real estate has declined.

On Sept. 3 the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) convened central enterprises' industry common-technology research institutes and set implementation priorities. SASAC urged institutes to clarify functional positioning from national and industry perspectives, reinforce their public-good role and define targeted R&D directions. It instructed precise technology planning that prioritizes industry development, market demand and frontier technologies, stresses applied basic-research breakthroughs and delivery of demonstration projects, and accelerates tech iteration via industry application scenarios. SASAC also required measurable value targets for tech outputs and leader-talent development, directing institutes to leverage senior experts and academicians while emphasizing young-talent cultivation to earn industry recognition.

Analyst Lydia DePillis said US local government education payrolls rebounded from prior declines, adding 42,000 jobs, suggesting the sharp drop earlier this summer may have been a seasonal-adjustment anomaly. Employment has been essentially flat since January 2025 as pandemic-era stimulus funding has phased out of public school budgets.
