Reserve Bank of India said it will extend the lock-up of banks' excess cash to
address a record liquidity surplus and will conduct an INR 7 trillion (≈$74.1bn)
30‑day variable‑rate reverse‑repo auction on Monday. The move lengthens the
central bank's recent operation tenor from about 15 days, allowing it to keep
surplus funds outside the banking system for a longer period. RBI said prior
efforts to attract overseas Indians to buy dollars had contributed to the
liquidity buildup.
