Russian presidential aide Ushakov said Putin met US special envoy Witkoff and Jared Kushner at the Kremlin on the evening of the 5th for a 3-hour-10-minute discussion focused on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Moscow told the envoys it seeks elimination of all root causes of the dispute, detailed progress in its special military operation, and said Russian forces have made significant gains and remain confident of meeting objectives. Putin reiterated a willingness to pursue a political-diplomatic settlement. Witkoff and Kushner said they will convey Putin’s views and assessments to Kyiv during planned contacts with Ukrainian officials; Ushakov said US envoys came prepared, expressed concern about ending military action quickly and put forward a range of possible solutions. The sides also discussed economic matters and potential major Russia–US cooperation projects.
