Iran foreign ministry spokesman Baghaei told a routine press briefing on Sept. 7
that, responding to U.S. Vice President Vance’s Sept. 3 remark that 'the U.S.
and Iran are not at war,' the situation 'is not a war' but 'open U.S.
aggression.' Vance had said he acknowledged escalations in some areas but would
not call it 'war' and that there was no sustained firefight at the time.
