Chile's August copper export value fell to $4.62 billion, down 14% month-on-month and 3.2% year-on-year, the lowest monthly level since July 2025, central bank data showed. The drop came as the average August copper price was more than 40% higher year-on-year. Heavy rain, snow and strong winds in July and August disrupted mine operations, while rough seas periodically constrained port activity. Chile produces about one-quarter of global mined copper; these production setbacks are supporting copper prices and further tightening a global supply picture already affected by outages elsewhere.
