An informal meeting of China–Central Asia public security and interior ministers took place in Beijing on the 7th, chaired by State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong. China said it will deepen practical cooperation with Central Asian states on countering terrorism, separatism and extremism; tackling transnational crime; managing migration; protecting Chinese overseas interests; and building law enforcement capacity. Beijing also pledged enhanced security for major Belt and Road Initiative projects and urged the mechanism to serve as a model for cross-sector cooperation to jointly address diverse threats and support regional security stability.

At the midday close, China’s most-active commodity futures were mostly higher. Methanol hit the daily limit, up 6.03%. Para-xylene (PX) and low-sulfur fuel oil (LU) rose over 5%; fuel oil and PTA gained about 5%. LPG, SC crude, propylene and asphalt advanced more than 4%. Polysilicon was the main loser, down over 1%.
