At its Sept. 8 half-year results meeting, Silan Microelectronics said it has completed price adjustments for customers outside the automotive and white-goods segments. Long-term contract customers represent a small share and the company will follow up with price discussions when appropriate. The firm reported marked improvement in its SiC product line and said SiC was excluded from H2 price adjustments given current supply-demand dynamics.

BNDES approved a 77.5 mln reais (≈$15 mln) 16-year loan to Viridis Mining and Minerals to fund the Colossus rare-earth project’s research centre and a recently commissioned demonstration plant. Colossus, in southeast Brazil, was one of 56 projects named last year in a 5 bln reais BNDES and Finep funding programme for critical-minerals supply chains. Viridis CEO Rafael Moreno said the move is part of Brazil’s effort, alongside US state funding, to develop domestic rare-earth reserves; he expects to finalise additional financing within one month to six weeks and is discussing equity participation with BNDESPar. The Perth-based developer has submitted a final feasibility study; BNDES will conduct due diligence before issuing a term sheet.

TrendForce said in its latest industry survey that global smartphone production in Q2 2026 reached 275 million units, down 8% YoY but outperforming earlier forecasts. The firm cited two drivers: consumer front-loading driven by fears that sustained memory-chip price increases will push device prices higher in 2027, and inventory replenishment by brands that had cut production amid earlier memory-cost spikes. TrendForce raised its 2026 full-year production forecast to 1.07 billion units from 1.05 billion, narrowing the expected YoY decline from 16% to 14%.
