OpenAI has released a new image engine, ChatGPT Images 2.5, saying generation speed is up to 50% faster and fidelity for people and pets is improved. The update adds precise editing controls — users can specify edit locations via sketches or region selection instead of relying solely on text — and enables photo-to-style conversion, logo design and tattoo modification. OpenAI says the tool is intended to increase user participation in the creative process. The upgrade has renewed disputes over AI image copyright and creator rights, with observers questioning whether training used artists’ works and flagging potential impacts on the traditional creative industry.

The National Bureau of Statistics said China’s PPI shifted from a 0.7% MoM decline last month to a 0.4% MoM increase. Imported input costs — notably higher international crude oil and non‑ferrous metal prices — pushed up domestic sector prices: oil extraction +10.4% MoM, refined petroleum products manufacturing +4.1%, organic chemical raw materials manufacturing +0.9%, and non‑ferrous metal smelting and rolling +0.8%. Those four industries together contributed roughly 0.31 percentage points to the PPI MoM rise.
