Pakistan has warned Iran to restrain Yemen’s Houthi militants after a rise in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, conveying the message on behalf of Riyadh, sources in Saudi, Pakistan and Iran told Refinitiv. Islamabad’s defence ties with Saudi Arabia and Turkey gave the warning added weight; Pakistan delivered the message to Tehran within 24 hours, urging Iran to use its influence to halt strikes on Saudi territory. An Iranian official confirmed Pakistan relayed the warning on Tuesday and said Tehran replied that Iran does not control the Houthis; two other Iranian sources told Refinitiv that Tehran last week ordered Houthi strikes, pledged additional funding and weapons, and sent IRGC commanders to Yemen to coordinate operations. Saudi, Pakistani and Turkish military delegations met in Riyadh to coordinate a response and agreed Saudi forces would not enter Yemen; any action would be launched from Saudi territory.
