On Wednesday President Trump said the US may strike Pickaxe Mountain, a fortified site with two deep underground tunnel complexes near the heavily damaged Natanz uranium‑enrichment facility, and warned Tehran not to “play games” or face a “heavy” strike. He has been threatening strikes on Pickaxe Mountain since mid‑July. Since February, US and Israeli strikes on Iran have pushed oil and gas prices higher, an issue Republicans have highlighted ahead of the November midterms.
