On Sept. 10 in Wuhan, Hubei provincial party secretary Guan Zhi'ou met Baidu founder, chairman and CEO Robin Li and urged the group to deepen its presence in Hubei and expand cooperation in artificial intelligence and spatiotemporal geoinformation. Hubei pledged to provide a first-class, responsive business environment—saying it will ‘respond when called, not interfere when unnecessary’—to facilitate Baidu’s development in the province.

Sept. 10 — Wind data: Wind Optical Fiber Index closed down 3.26% after reports that optical-fiber preform capacity is accelerating. Preforms, the main raw material for optical fiber and cable, have risen sharply YTD and recently, but industry sources say mid‑term prices are uncertain as new capacity scheduled to come online over the next two years will require market validation. FiberHome said it expects sustained data‑centre optical connectivity demand, is expanding high‑end capacity (multimode, specialty and hollow‑core fibers) and will use self‑funding to advance projects before proceeds from a planned directed share issuance are received. Firms note preform ramp-up still faces hurdles in technology, equipment procurement, approvals and talent.
